Collaboration with Viti on collection management

The collection of the Aalesund museum counts over 12,000 items. Many of the objects are kept in a magazine at Sunnmøre museum. The eightring in the boat hall outside Borgund is one of many wonderful objects. As the county's oldest museum, established in 1903, Aalesund's museum has cared for its cultural heritage for much over 100 years. It is this heritage that the museums will now work together to manage. Aalesund's museum wants to be an independent city museum, and will not enter Viti.
